The aim of the volume is to journalistically depict the project “Portraits, Salzburg, 2021” realized by Nadine Weixler & Peter Schreiner on behalf of the Salzburg Museum. Conceived as a contribution to the exhibition "Salzburg Unique", the two artists created a series of images in December 2021 that, using the means of portrait photography, was intended to approach the geographically clearly defined historical center of the city of Salzburg, which has been part of the world cultural heritage since 1996 UNESCO is. In order to create a photographic image, whatever it may be, of a society whose members were present in the above-mentioned spatial context at the given time due to their place of residence, workplace or other circumstances, the practical implementation of the project was preceded by a public call for participation, as a result Forty-eight portraits were taken in a studio set up for this purpose in the Salzburg Museum. This series of photographs can be seen as an ambivalent collection of largely socially decontextualized images of people, or as an experimental portrait of a specific historical space, or somewhere between the image of a city and that of its residents.
