2. Data Storage During Online Purchases
Please note that, to simplify the shopping process and facilitate subsequent contract fulfillment, the online store operator stores the IP address of the connection owner using cookies. In addition, we also store the following data for the purpose of contract fulfillment:
- Name and billing/shipping address
- Email address and/or phone number
- Purchased products and order details
The data you provide is necessary for the performance of the contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. Without this data, we cannot enter into a contract with you.
Data is not transferred to third parties, with the exception of:
- Shipping companies (e.g., Österreichische Post, GLS, DHL) for the delivery of books/magazines
- Payment service providers (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) to process payment for the purchase price.
- Our tax advisor to fulfill our tax obligations.
If a contract is concluded, all data related to the contractual relationship will be stored until the expiration of the tax retention period (7 years in Austria).
3. Cookies & Web Analytics
Our website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your device via your browser. They do not cause any harm. We use cookies to make our website more user-friendly (e.g., saving your shopping cart). Some cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them.
Our website uses features of the Umami web analytics service. This involves the use of cookies that enable an analysis of how users interact with the website. The information generated in this process is transmitted to the provider’s server and stored there. Your IP address is recorded in the process but is immediately anonymized.
4. Newsletter via MailerLite
You can subscribe to our newsletter through our website. To do so, we need your email address and your consent to receive the newsletter. In order to provide you with targeted information, we also collect and process information you voluntarily provide regarding your areas of interest.
Once you have signed up for the newsletter, we will send you a confirmation email with a link to confirm your subscription (double opt-in).
We use the MailerLite service to send our newsletter. The provider is MailerLite Inc., 548 Market St, PMB 98174, San Francisco, CA 94104-5401, USA (or its European subsidiary, MailerLite UAB, J. Basanavičiaus g. 15, LT-03108 Vilnius, Lithuania).
The data you provide to subscribe to the newsletter (e.g., email address) is processed on MailerLite’s servers. Since MailerLite may also transfer data to the U.S., the following safeguards apply: MailerLite is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and also uses Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission to ensure the European level of data protection. We have entered into a Data Processing Addendum with MailerLite.
The newsletters sent via MailerLite contain so-called tracking pixels or tracking links. This allows us to analyze whether an email has been opened and which links have been clicked. These analyses help us identify our users’ reading habits and continuously improve the content of our newsletter.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter—and thereby revoke your consent to tracking—at any time. You’ll find an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter.
5. Registration for Events
On the registration form for certain events, we ask you to enter your first name, last name, and email address. We store this data internally until the end of the respective event, after which it is completely deleted.
The data is required exclusively for the organization and processing of registration for the respective event (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures pursuant to Art. 6(1)(b) of the GDPR) and will under no circumstances be disclosed to third parties.
6. Hosting & Platform
Our website is hosted on the servers of Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. The provider processes data (e.g., log files) on our behalf to ensure the secure and fast operation of the online store (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
7. Your Rights
With regard to the data we have stored about you, you generally have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, withdrawal of consent, and objection.
If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been infringed, you may file a complaint with us or the competent supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Data Protection Authority (DSB).
