Vulva Union - A Collection of Street Sexual Graffiti Observations
This project includes photos taken by Miki Mike 665 in 2019–2024 in Ukraine, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Egypt, Spain. More than 180 photos are used. In total, more than 300 photos were collected.
It is possible to divide all images into two groups according to the purpose of their creation:
1) Sublimation-coitus images, Images depicting the context of the sexual intercourse
2) Protest-anti-patriarchal images, Feminist images
Collecting street signs, comparing images of vulvas and penises, the first thing that came to mind was that visually vulvar drawings do not immediately form the image in our consciousness, they are less recognizable and difficult to interpret with the naked eye. On the other hand, the penis is visible from afar, it immediately forms a gestalt, which is painfully clear. The dick hits the eye.
Of course, the reasons for this difference lie in the concealing of vulva from the cultural and social field, especially from the public space. Taboos of female sexuality, long centuries of prohibition to show, look, study, draw and even name female genitalia, have done their job...
