Open Call: Softcover Postcard Edition
Submissions are open from 28 July to 31 August 2026. Selected artists will be notified in September 2026.
We’re looking for submissions from artists, designers, illustrators, and creatives whose work feels at home in an independent bookstore dedicated to print culture, visual arts, and self-publishing. If it translates well to paper and fits an A6 postcard format, we would love to see it!
- Postcards don’t have to be themed, but they can be related to themes like birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s day, etc
- All visual mediums are welcome: illustration, photography, graphic design, printmaking, collage, scans, digital drawings, poetry, creative writing, typography, or combinations
- Preferably new or unpublished works
- Preferably in English. German is also ok
- Anyone is welcome to submit, worldwide, any age, for free
Selected artists will receive:
- 50 % commission per card sold (retailing at 3-5 € each)
- 10 free copies of your printed postcard
- Postcards will be available at Softcover in Vienna, Austria and in our online shop with worldwide shipping
- We cover the printing costs for you. Produced in a small, limited edition print run
- Promotion on our website, Instagram and newsletter

Technical requirements:
- Standard postcard size A6 (105 x 148 mm). Preferably portrait, landscape is also ok
- File naming convention: FirstnameLastname_ArtworkTitle_001.jpg
- We will create a standard template for the back side (with your artist info and Softcover logo)
- Please upload low-res JPEGs. We will request high-res print files only if selected
- You retain full ownership of your work. By submitting, you grant Softcover non-exclusive rights to print, display, promote, and sell the selected postcard editions with full attribution to you
