Thank You for Shopping Here is a collection of photographs taken during a three-week stay on the east coast of the USA. The book deals with visual signs in urban space – and how they are read and understood or elude legibility. The mostly one-sided urban communication results, among other things, from the omnipresence of trade in goods and services, which inscribe themselves into modern cities in a variety of ways and are the focus of the book.

Lukas Meixner (*1996 in Vienna) studied sociology at the University of Vienna and artistic photography at the Friedl Kubelka School. He is currently studying Visual Communication at the University of Art and Design Linz. His photographic works and drawings are in the field of social science and address issues of family and friendship relationships as well as social norms, rituals and expectations. His work has been shown in group exhibitions in Vienna, Graz, Salzburg and Bruneck.
